She bounced around through the forest excitedly. 'Yes!' she thought as she ran between and around trees. Shane the head scout of Validus was gonna train her to be a scout. Niyah knew very well she wasn't gonna be able to fight as a warrior like her sister or be a hunter like Ice. So she had looked to Shane the head scout. She was quick on her feet for her size and always ready to run. Skidding to a stop she looked around and then sniffed the air making sure no humans happened to be in the area. Wagging her tail she lifted her head and let out a howl so that Shane could find her.
After lowering her head she spotted movement. Her eyes locked on it and found a rabbit. Licking her lips she stalked closer and the launched herself forward. The rabbit had looked up seeing her coming and then took off down a log. Saniyah didn't realize it was to small for her to fit through till she got stuck. Growling she scratched the earth backwards with her rear paws to pull herself free. But she wouldn't budge. She froze seeing the rabbit at the end and he smiled saying 'Nice try young wolf!' Baring her teeth Saniyah barked out at it 'Stupid furball!' And tried pulling herself backwards again bit still couldn't.
Sighing she flattened her ears thinking 'This is why I'm not a huntress' Frustrated she growled and snarled wriggling around till she heard a branch snap. Her body froze and she whimpered 'Shane?...is that you?'

Shane saw Saniyah stuck in a log and cocked his head. He had come to teach her how to be a scout since this was the only job she felt she would be good at. He let out a scruffy sound that would be his laughter if he were human. I'm two minutes late and I find you stuck in a log. He smiled a wolfy grin and crouched down before jumping onto the log right short of Niyah's face. The log shattered, leaving Niyah free. Shane was the best there was and he smiled proudly. So kid, whatcha wanna learn first? He looked around and flared his nostrils. No humans. Only them and little animals. He smirked and looked around. What to do....what to do....? As a wolf he was very large and very black. His only mark was a white patch on his chest and on his snout. He looked at Niyah with his burning gold eyes.

She wriggled to get free hearing Shane say 'I'm two minutes late and I find you stuck in a log.' and heard him land on the log and it shattered. She tumbled backwards and landed on her stomach looking up at him. She wagged her tail her teeth showing as if she would be smiling. 'The stupid puffball of a rabbit tricked me' she said glumly then she stood up as he asked what did she wanted to know. 'Everything!' she said bouncing around him now. And then she froze sniffing the air. That was an interesting scent.

Shane chuckled at her excitement. This was hilarious. She was entertaining. Very much so. And then when she froze, he did too. Woah. He could smell cougar. What was a cougar doing on an island? In Romania nonetheless. He snorted and winked at Niyah. Then follow me. He quietly ran into the shadows and followed the scent. This was going to be an interesting scouting. He was so quiet that no one would ever know he was coming if they weren't paying attention. He jumped and started running across some ruins. He could see the cougar clearly. He turned to Saniyah. Looking back, he found that she was a little behind. Step one. Be quicker than quick. Step two, never let the enemy know that you are in proximity. Never. Ever. Ever. Be as quiet as possible. So quiet you can't even hear yourself. He looked at the cougar. They were really far up in the air. About two hundred fifty feet. He could see the cougar perfectly. He honed his auds in on the sounds it was making. He realized it was feeling scared. Lost. A scout can tell by the smell that the animal's pores release and by the rate of the heart beat. He looked at Saniyah again. What is it feeling? You can tell by the heart rate and the scent.

'Then follow me.' she heard him say and watched him go into the shadows. Tilting her head she rushed after him excitedly. Trailing behind him going into some ruins she saw him look back and say 'Step one. Be quicker than quick. Step two, never let the enemy know that you are in proximity. Never. Ever. Ever. Be as quiet as possible. So quiet you can't even hear yourself.' Pushing her legs faster she moved to be two sprints behind him. She spotted the cougar and sniffed its scent. She had never really seen a cougar before around 'What is it feeling? You can tell by the heart rate and the scent.' Shane asked and she said 'That's easy...its afraid of us. we should scare it off!' Leaping forward just ahead of him she let out a couple loud barks toward the cougar. When it looked toward them and made its body seem bigger she flattened her ears saying 'Uh-oh'

Shane growled. No--, but it was too late. She had already jumped out toward the cougar. Ugh. Pups. He jumped out in front of Niyah. Come and get me, jack ass!, he screeched at the cougar. He bared his teeth and let a fierce growl erupt from his chest. He circled around the cougar and it lunged toward him. He dodged the attack and when they cougar was fazed, Shane bit it by the windpipe. The cougar thrashed but slowly fell to the ground. Shane kept his jaws tightly clenched on the animal's neck. Then, letting go three minutes later, he watched as the life drained out of it's eyes. He licked the blood from his lips and looked at Saniyah. We are scouts. Not hunters or warriors. That is not our job. Be thankful that I was trained in all areas. Next time you might not be as lucky, and you need to remember what I said about not letting the enemy know you are in proximity. Ever. He scolded her in a way that a father would. Strange.

She skidded to a stop seeing Shane jump in front of her and she flattened her ears as she watched kill the cougar. When he turned to her and said 'We are scouts. Not hunters or warriors. That is not our job. Be thankful that I was trained in all areas. Next time you might not be as lucky, and you need to remember what I said about not letting the enemy know you are in proximity. Ever.' She looked down saying 'Sorry...' Glancing up at him she said 'Can you at least make it fun?'

Shane chuckled and put his head on top of hers. Of course. Sure, this was a pretty intimate gesture but he liked this girl. She was nice. And funny. And well, worth protecting. He removed his head from atop hers and looked at the dead cougar. That was fun.... He looked at her and started laughing again, his gold orbs turning purple with love. Weird. She was a minor. She was only fifteen. Eh, screw it. He was going to Hell anyway. Looking around, he became curious as to what they should do and his orbs turned back to gold. Looking back in the direction where he had found Niyah stuck in the log, he smirked and then his smirk turned into an evil grin. Hmmm.....what do you say about tracking down that rabbit and watching it for a while? And then maybe for a reward I'll let you eat it if you do well. He looked at Saniyah and then back in the direction where the rabbit had taken off. Back and forth, back and forth. Over and over. He laughed, ready for this challenge and for her to agree.

She felt Shane put his head atop hers and say that he would make it fun for them. The closest affection she'd gotten so far from a male had been her brother, Tyrees. Shane kinda reminded her of him. Her tail wagged and then stopped as he said killing the cougar was fun. Giggling she said 'For you....you got to kill it' and she playfully nipped at his ear before he said about tracking the rabbit down. And if she found it he might let her eat it. Her eyes brightened and she bounded around saying 'Lets go!' and took off to the shattered log she had been trapped in picking up the scent then said 'Got it!'and took off following the scent. A bit later she finally spotted and froze saying 'Over there, Shane' Ears forward as she listened to the rabbit.

Shane chuckled and took off after her. When she found the rabbit he pricked his auds forward and smiled evilly. Okay. Now, remember what I told you. Be silent, quick, and when it leasts expects it--attack. That's more of a warrior's job, but who cares? They go hand in hand. He motioned with his head for her to go ahead. He hoped she did well. Even though rabbits were so small it was hard to scout them since they had such impecable hearing. Flaring his nostrils he waited for her to take a move toward her kill.

'Okay. Now, remember what I told you. Be silent, quick, and when it leasts expects it--attack. That's more of a warrior's job, but who cares? They go hand in hand.' she heard Shane say and glanced back seeing him motioning for to go ahead. She gave a slight wag of her tail and then put all attention on the rabbit. Letting her legs move her closer she moved quietly. Actually she wasn't sire if she was even moving till a twig snapped under her paw. Freezing the rabbit rose its head and took off. Growling the pup took off after the prey and saw it go under a log. Baring her teeth she gathered some speed and leaped through the air and fell short over the log. Tumbling forward for a moment she sighed and stood up snorting and took off again. She was not able to fail a third time. It took her a bit to catch back up but when she did she caught it by the tail and snapped her head back letting it fly through the air backwards.
Turning around she ran back towards it as it hit the ground and leaped on it her jaws clamping around it. 'I DID IT!' she yelled excitedly to Shane wagging her tail.

Shane ran as silently as a ghost behind her when she scared the rabbit. He watched closely as she grabbed the rabbit and threw it back. He stopped and nodded, proud with her work. Very good. You have done well, Saniyah. Very well. He smiled and smelled the air, curiously. Sighing, he shook out his pelt. So what do you want to do now?

Her tail wagged faster as Shane praised her then she walked over to him and sat the rabbit in front of him saying You have it. A gift from the......pup...um student' She giggles at the end and nudged her first catch toward him again. She looked around as he asked what's she want to do now.
Thinking for a moment she said I don't....Oh no I know what we can do.' Turning away she said 'To the lake for swimming?....of coarse I don't know how to swim either but I'd like to learn. Aleah never got to teach me. Do you know how to swim'

Shane chuckled and bowed his head. Thank you. He ate the rabbit quickly and licked his lips. Shane smiled and wagged his tail. Of course! He grinned widely and ran up a cliff. He went to the edge and looked down. It stuck out right above deep water. Perfect. He chuckled and backed up three steps then ran off the edge and twenty seconds later he dove into the water. He popped back up and started laughing. Come on in! The water's fine! I wouldn't recommend jumping though... He chuckled and swam to a place where he could stand in the water.

Watching Shane run up the rocks she followed behind him and then stopped as he jumped down. Looking over the edge at the deep water she flattened her ears and slightly stepped back. She looked at Shane as he said he wouldn't recommend jumping. 'Didn't plan on it' she said to him and started to find her way down toward the water. Once she reached the bottom she moved to the edge of the shallow water and looked to Shane a bit nervous. 'Um I...think I changed my mind....' she said slightly giving her tail a wag. Though you could see she longed to swim in her eyes.
