[glow=white,2,300]Eclipse Holt [/glow] What part of 'born wolf' don't you understand? The Spring air blew through the forest, leaves dancing in between the tall trunks, twigs snapping against the gentle pressure of the pure air. There was no smoke out this far into the forest, the steel mill vile fog barely even reached the beginnings of the forest, something Eclipse was happy about. A rare, peaceful look was ghosting the Alpha Male's face, as he sat, in human form, upon the rock that was his meeting spot of his pack.
Memories ghosted the Alpha Male, times when he and his pack could walk freely through the forest in fur or flesh and in peace. . . . But those times were almost all gone. The hunts set up by the humans were starting to slow, but there were still Werewolf Hunters that ventured out into the forests and even into the towns far and wide to find those last few wolves in human clothing.
Straight, slightly shaggy black hair had little pieces of dirt, mud, and twigs sticking out of it. Tanned, scarred flesh glistened with sweat as if the Alpha had been running . . . or fighting. Whatever it was, it had Eclipse on edge, his back muscles tense causing the scars to stand out a bit more. Light honey orbs suddenly flashed open, as the Alpha suddenly lifted himself up and up, rising to his full height of 6'3". Very worn, dusty, black boots slammed against the rock, dusty, slightly ripped black jeans hugged his muscular legs as he stood up on the rock. His chest puffed out, lungs taking in as much air as he could. Honey orbs slowly closed as he lifted his nose to the air, his nostrils flaring slightly as he breathed deeply.
"You've ventured to far this time," he growled, eyes suddenly scanning the area around him. His arms lowered to his side, shoulders drawn slightly back, head slightly tilted up. While his senses scanned the area, he still looked like the Alpha he was. This was his land, and deep in the forest, whoever dare venture out here was his prey . . . or of his blood.

Ah, the forest.
Mountain Mist National Park held so many memories for Elena, from the earliest reaches of her mind, she could recall every twist and turn of these woods, as if they were engraved into her memory. Each tree, pathway, rock and plant was a part of her, the feel of the crisp spring air rolling across her back, the crunch of feeble twigs and fallen leaves beneath her paws...
But there was now a sense of danger in her revelry. The forest was not the safe haven it once was, so many years ago. To a sensitive nose, the scent of gunpowder still left a vague tint to the air, as did the stagnant reek of blood. It was such a depressing aura that hung over the tree tops, enough to topple the highest of Elena's spirits.
Shaking her head with a miserable nostalgia, Elena continued her journey, on foot for once, dressed lightly for the chill of early spring. A simple beige top, with sleeves to her elbows and a wide neckline, tucked a pale yellow skirt, belted with suede, subtly patterned tights and boots, but with steps so light that her heels barely snapped the twigs she walked over.
Pausing for a moment, Elena closed her eyes, allowing a moment for her heightened senses to travel to the farest reaches of her surroundings. Aha.
She knew she'd find him here.
Upon hearing his demanding growl, she ventured forth through the break in the trees, stopping to lean casually against one, observing him for a moment, taking in his body language. Upright, tall. Grounded and strong. A picture of strength and authority. But his narrowed eyes and flared nostrils hinted at an underlying irritation, bordering on... concern? Worry, perhaps?
Despite her concern, Elena couldn't help but smirk into the back of her hand, feigning a feeble cough.
"You seem in a foul mood today, Eclipse..."

[glow=white,2,300]Eclipse Holt [/glow] What part of 'born wolf' don't you understand? His body language didn't relax when Eclipse saw who was out in the forest with him. He growled, stepping off the rock and landing with a slight bend of his knees before standing to his full height. His honey orbs took in the female as she stood against the tree. She was his Lead Scout, a female that was dependable and one that had been within the Infiniteria Pack for around six years, and from what he could find out about her she had no parents that lived. It endeared her to him, as his own parents were dead, but her loyalty was something that he liked about her.
"Don't risk my displeasure, whelp," he growled, no matter what he enjoyed about Elena, this really wasn't the time to test him, at least not be around him. "What do you want?"
he snapped, head shaking a little as he tried to clear his head. His wolf side wanted to run but there were just so many problems that he didn't know if he could handle the pressure of staying a wolf through these times. Taking another deep breath, he shook his head, trying to clear it. "Elena . . . Why are you wondering around out here?" he asked, for once not growling. Watching the female before him, he couldn't help but circle around her tree. Claws dug into the tree trunk, palm resting against the trunk as he came around the tree, right up behind Elena. His nostrils flared, lungs filling deeply with her scent and he found that it went right to his head. He quickly took a step back realizing that he truly needed to find himself a mate and pull the pack completely together. Again, he shook his head, trying to shake the thoughts from his mind. "I'm going insane," he growled, stepping away from Elena.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Such a flurry of questions and statements.
Elena calmly let him rattle off the thoughts that came thundering through his mind, closing her eyes and allowing herself to be circled like the prey of a foolhardy young wolf, she simply rested her head back against the tree, tipping it towards him, watching his odd moment of... discomfort? Honestly, that was one moment Elena couldn't quite read.
"Insane?"
She queried softly, but wasn't expecting much of an explanation. It was a rare and hallowed sight for Eclipse, 'the big bad Alpha', to unload his problems on a lesser rank, even if she was his Lead Scout. Her job was to gather information and run, not play agony aunt.
Not that she wasn't willing to listen.
She knew all too well that these were troubling times for any wolf, particularly a pack, but to see Eclipse struggling under the weight of the responsibility he had taken upon himself to carry upon forging Infiniteria so many years ago... It was almost scary.
Taking a brief moment to clear her head, she looked up, directly into his eyes - such an unusual shade of pale, incandescent gold - and offered a brief, but genuine smile.
"Do you want to talk about it?"

[glow=white,2,300]Eclipse Holt [/glow] What part of 'born wolf' don't you understand? Pulling away from the female, Eclipse had to take a very deep breath trying to clear his head. The look in her eyes was right; he shouldn't be speaking to her like this. An Alpha didn't unburden himself to a lower ranking wolf, no matter how much they were starting to . . . No, she wasn't starting to mean anything to him. She was just . . . . He needed a drink, which caused him to glance back at the Meeting Rock. Growling under his breath, he headed for the rock, barely even glancing over his shoulder to regard the female.
"I don't need to talk," he growled low under his breath, reaching the rock and finding the little notch that was just big enough for a nice sized bottle. When he pulled the bottle out, he almost crushed the plastic bottle. "Damn pups!" he all but howled at the bottle of water. Someone had switched his beer for water, golden orbs flashed back to Elena, demanding to know if she had done this, but doubted she did. She was smart enough to not get him stirred up.
Taking a deep breath, and in the process crushing the bottle of water, Eclipse turned and sat on the ground, placing his back against the rock. "I will kill you if anything said here leaks to the pack,"
he growled, head leaning back against the rock, eyes closing. It was a very rare moment when even the Alpha Male had his throat exposed and his heart bear. A hand came up and scrubbed at his face, head lowering quickly to close the access to his throat.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Ah, the playful pranks of pups.
Sadly, this one had most certainly come at a bad time, watching Eclipse's angered features he he glared pointedly towards her, staring back in a narrowed fashion that could only say 'Are you kidding me?'. Elena wasn't the type to pull pranks, not sure childish ones anyway. She was above that.
Elena couldn't help but frown a little, his true stress becoming painfully apparent, eyes wide as he left himself fully defenceless against the world for a few long moments, nodding silently to his final statement, the look in her eyes promising that she'd never tell a word. If Elena was anything, it was certainly loyal.
"I won't tell a soul." She promised, sliding down to sit against the tree, attention now fully on Eclipse, falling silent to allow her Alpha to speak. Whatever was plaguing his mind so terribly would surely be a problem better shared. At least she hoped so.
Elena had known Eclipse for almost six years now, and she knew their bond was strong enough for him to trust her, but it still came as somewhat of a shock that he was prepared to be so open with her.

[glow=white,2,300]Eclipse Holt [/glow] What part of 'born wolf' don't you understand? "Tell me what you think of Hunters in Eden Town?" he asked suddenly, looking to his Lead Scout with flashing orbs. He had a few strong minds in the pack, good wolves, but it had come down to a handful of wolves that he truly trusted . . . and somehow Elena Turner and ended up being one of the few wolves that he truly spoke to. She was a couple years younger than himself, a lot shorter, but thought things out and was good at what she did.
Waiting, he watched her, judging her reaction, her facial expression, anything that filtered across her face that she let slide. As it was, he ended up thinking about what had made him so upset and he honestly couldn't figure out what it was. It just seemed that the Hunters were getting to him and causing him quiet a bit of discomfort with their proximity.

Seeming to pause in deep thought for a moment, Elena frowned deeply at his question, almost seeming rather frustrated by it. Hunters. Elena's personal vendetta had always helped to fuel her in tracking, and eventually helping to eliminate the threat, but recently, hunters - even if they were few and far between - were doing well at covering their tracks. Too well.
She had caught scent of one or two flitting back and forth between Eden Town and different reaches of Bucharest, but nothing concrete enough yet. She supposed that until they gained enough confidence to breach Infiniteria territory, or by some stroke of luck she met them as a human, she would simply have to continue doing what she did best; watching and waiting.
"I have my concerns... The number of hunters remaining has dropped, certainly, but... I fear some of the pack doesn't quite carry themselves with enough caution as they should."
Elena met his gaze levelly, but with a softer look than previous, remembering her place and what she was here to do. If she was going to calm Eclipse down, she'd need to remind him that there was more to life than all this doom and gloom...

[glow=white,2,300]Eclipse Holt [/glow] What part of 'born wolf' don't you understand? At first, Eclipse didn't quite know how to take what Elena stated with such a level tone. He was use to his pack speaking freely around him but he was wasn't sure anyone had ever truly spoken to him like that. Taking a deep breath, the Alpha Male simply nodded his head.
"You wouldn't be referring to me, would you?" he asked, referring to her last statement. He knew he wasn't as human as he should have been, but then again, he couldn't remember the last time he thought himself "acting" human. But he agreed with her, the number of Hunters had gone down but that didn't mean anything when it came to having to still deal with the rooted Hunters. Grunting, he turned his head and looked up at the rock that was intended for him to stand on when addressing the pack while they were out away from the den.
"I have been leading the pack alone for a long time . . . I don't think there is much chance of changing me into being more human but the pack must be shown that that is what is needed . . . . " he stated, mind kind of drifting, memories flooding his mind.

Elena blinked in surprise, thrown for a moment. He couldn't possibly think... Her initial surprise was overtaken by the shock that he'd reacted so... calmly to such a possibility, she was sure that he would not have given the same lenience to any other wolf, packmate or not. It was an almost... beautiful feeling that flooded over her, realizing his apparent respect for her. The two had been friends for such a long time, but it suddenly became clear to Elena that, despite her carefully maintained respect for Eclipse, he truly did see her as a good friend and comrade.
The thought brought a genuine smile to Elena's lips, before the word 'alone' seemed to strike with a poignant meaning, tilting her head to one side, trying to read the ever closed book that was her Alpha male.
"Forgive my insolence, but... could it be that you're concerned about the lack of an Alpha female?" She asked, trying to phrase the question as carefully as she could, taking a somewhat risky shot in the dark, based on what she'd gathered from the man's body language, expressions and speech. Elena was good at reading people, the reason why she was given the role of lead scout, being excellent at gathering information from little more than a person's positioning, tone and social tics.
"I know it's not my place, but... I still think you do an excellent job as you are, for what it's worth." She added quickly, with an optimistic smile, mind suddenly clouded with the thought of what Eclipse would be like as simply... human. It just wasn't a coherent thought. She was so used to him being this way, in fact... she liked him this way. Something about the man and the beast, entwined into one harmony that was Eclipse Holt had worked its way into her heart over the years... and she'd be sad to see that change.

[glow=white,2,300]Eclipse Holt [/glow] What part of 'born wolf' don't you understand? Elena wasn't a stupid female, she more than earned her position as Lead Scout in his pack and was more than worthy of the respect he gave her. There wasn't much of anything she could say and get his anger, something he wouldn't tell her, but he figured she'd figure it out soon enough. He nodded when she asked about the Alpha Female. "There is not insolence . . . but yes, I am,"
he stated, watching the female closely. In total, Eclipse had five females in his pack. Currently, one was a pup, she being way to young for him. Two were eighteen and he had already made a horrible impression on poor Azuki, to the point that he didn't think her interest in him lived any more. Young Charlotte had already expressed her interest in the position, while his Beta Female was only a year older and was mated to a human and a Hunter. That bothered him a bit, but he hadn't yet figured what to do about that. Which left Elena . . . so in total that was only two females in the running for the Alpha Female, maybe three if young Azuki still was interested, but he felt that his interest in her was more brotherly than potential mate. When she spoke again, Elena drug him from his mental count and caused him to furrow his brows. "I have my faults. Those faults require some work, and were I fail at fixing them, it would be nice to have someone to lean on," he stated, thinking of Damian and Kaite, Lucas and Larysa and even Lu and Seth. He growled at the last thought, fangs lengthening at the thought of how close that Hunter was getting into his land. "There are several things that need a . . . . gentler hand to fix. My brute paws can't do the job as good," he growled.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Elena nodded as he confirmed her suspicions, giving the issue some thought. There weren't that many females in their pack, and even fewer that were suitable. It suddenly struck her that she fell under the category of 'suitable females', reddening slightly at the thought, struck dumb by the momentary daydream that she and Eclipse... In all truth, it wasn't the first time the possibility had crossed her mind. They were good friends, the trust and companionship were already there, but the thought of anything more...? It baffled her to say the least, and there were very few matters of psychology that did.
It wasn't as if she wasn't attracted to Eclipse in any way shape or form, even she would admit - a little begrudgingly, perhaps - that he was an attractive male, but she had gotten so used to his role in her life as a close friend that the thought was almost a little overwhelming. Composing herself, she turned her attention back to Eclipse, figuring that even though she didn't expect him to 'pour his heart out' in any way, shape or form, it was worth a shot.
"I understand... do you have anyone in mind, at the moment?" She tried to say it lightly enough to make sure it wasn't implying that she was interested in the position, because she wasn't... was she? It was a matter that would require a lot of soul searching... Or a few strong words or actions from her male companion to make up her mind.

[glow=white,2,300]Eclipse Holt [/glow] What part of 'born wolf' don't you understand? It didn't take a genius to figure out where Elena's mind had wondered. He had started wondering the same thing, considering there were really only two or three females that were eligible for the Alpha Female position and Elena was one of the only few females close to his age.
Her trying to make her question as light as possible caused Eclipse to shake his head and chuckle. Slowly, he pushed himself up until he was standing once more and looked up at slowly setting sun. Where they were, the pale orange/yellow rays were bouncing off the trees and soon the pink would break through quickly turning darker and darker til the sun completely set. Honey orbs flashed again as he took a deep breath and flashed a mouthful of fangs at Elena in a wolfish grin. "You have gotten a lot out of me, today, Elena Turner . . . . But that one question will get no answer from me . . . I think that is one answer to myself . . . Unless you want to come get it out of me,"
he grinned, winking at the female before seemingly shifting into wolf form and as the pink rays broke through the trees. Care to try your luck at getting answers? Or would you like to call it a night? Eclipse asked, shaking out his grey, black, and white pelt, while his golden amber orbs flashed with their normal honey glaze. A pink tongue hung out of his muzzle as he twisted away from the front of the rock, disappearing completely around behind it and made his way up the rock. By the time he reached the top of the rock, the sun was set and the darkness was slowly crawling through the forest.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

She couldn't help but chuckle, watching Eclipse change before her as if it were the most normal, every-day thing possible, following the jet black wolf as he made his way up the rock, deciding that she had nothing to lose by taking her chances for once. It was a little unusual for her to simply throw caution to the wind, but in this instance, it didn't feel like a risk not worth taking.
In the time it took for Eclipse to ascend the rock, she had stripped herself of her clothing, used to her packmates - moreso Eclipse than the rest of them - seeing her nude when either changing or changing back from her wolf form, still modest in the way of not flaunting herself, instead standing with a confidence that could only come from being so comfortable with her companion.
She too changed quickly, stretching out her paws, claws digging lightly into the dirt as the pale blonde she-wolf allowed her muscles to relax in their changed form, before calmly trotting over to the rock, sitting back on her haunches in front of it, eyeing the brute atop it with a wolfish smile. I think I'll try my luck this evening... She tipped her head to one side with almost a mischievous glint in her eyes, pale pelt standing out even moreso as darkness began to set in, her adrenaline rising as the prospect of the moon glimmered on the horizon.
Are you afraid I won't like the answer? She teased, keeping her position for now, seeming the ever diligent follower to a powerful Alpha male. Until, that is, that Alpha gave her the necessary encouragement to come chasing after him, like the instinct deep within her craved to.

[glow=white,2,300]Eclipse Holt [/glow] What part of 'born wolf' don't you understand? Looking down, Eclipse watched as the pale she-wolf sitting before him. Modesty meant little to him, but a few of his packmates were and he was fine with that. However, seeing the pale she-wolf's human form in all her glory had Eclipse thinking a little more about the mate thing then he thought was possible. Shaking the thought from his mind, he heard her mental words and couldn't help but growl at the playfulness in them. Ah, to be teased once more, something he hadn't know since he and Damian had run the streets of Eden Town with Katie on their heels.
Is that so? he growled, easily dropping from the rock and circling around Elena. That answer won't come easily and who's to say you don't already know the answer? he asked, stopping before her and taking in her form. Normally, it was the male that chased after the female . . . but it seemed that this little she-wolf wasn't interested in the normal ways of life. He couldn't help but feel his blood boil and his muscles bunch and ready for the thrill of the chase.
