Following Peri up onto dry land, his fur leaving a dripping trail behind him from the waterside, William nodded his agreement before grinning childishly and padding just a little closer to Peri to shake himself dry, once more showering the ground and surrounding area with a fine spray of water.
I-If you like
He finished, his ears twitching as the warm sun set to work drying the rest of his coat, creating a fine steam of condensing lake-water about his brown pelt.

Flinching a little as she was showered with droplets as Will shook the water from his pelt, Peri yipped in surprise, before darting forward and slyly nipping his ear in a playful reprimand, before trotting back around him, sniffing the air casually to see what was on offer for their afternoon meal.
Earth, birds, plants, wet dog... Aha. There was a deer to their north, the scent seemed to be fairly stationary, which made Peri hopeful that it was either old or injured, meaning that they wouldn't have too much of a fight on their hands.
There's a deer, I think it's just up the hill and through those trees over there... We'll have a better chance if you go around and try and get it from the other side, and I approach it from the front... Hah, who said I didn't know how to make tactics?
She grinned, sharp teeth glinting in the sunlight, beginning her careful ascent up the hill, wet paws slipping a little as they turned the soft earth into small patches of mud. As she approached the break in the trees, she crouched low to the ground, ears flat to her head, her stomach dropping a little as she saw it was a buck, still somewhat young, but old enough to have formidable horns. She paused behind a tree, waiting for Will to hopefully take his place to the other side of it, hoping that they could take it down if it was ambushed from both sides.

Brushing quickly at his bitten ear, William pricked up his ears and, following Peri's suit, sniffed at the air with a keen wet nose. Ah yes, there it was, floating along on the air, easily picked out from the scent of grass and water- deer.
Usually William found himself chasing rabbits or other small furry prey around the woods when the urge took him, but taking down a deer, with Peri at his side, didn't seem all too...well it sounded rather fun.
With a little yip of acknowledgement, he carefully flattened himself to the ground, ears low and tail brushing against the grass, before padding over to the opposite side of the clearing, his nose pressed firmly to the ground.
The sight and size of the creature surprised him; maybe...maybe it wouldn't be quite so easy, with just the two of them. But then, whilst William was by no means strong, he could be quite light on his paws when needed, and Peri looked like a small tightened coil of energy in her wolf form.
Surely they'd manage a small buck by themselves.

Once Will had taken his place around the other side of the clearing, Peri waited a few moments, bracing herself for the attack. The buck was currently faced towards her, meaning that she had the worrying job of dodging the horns and trying to go for the stomach or neck, so that Will could latch onto the back of its neck, meaning that if he managed to bite deep he could sever the spinal cord and kill the buck instantly. Silently, Peri sprang from her hiding place, darting forth like a bullet from a gun to dive underneath the buck and sink her fangs into its stomach, causing the buck to rear in pain, the movement ripping her fangs from its flesh, as well as ripping a decent sized hole in its stomach in the process. Thrown backwards and rolling to the side, Peri scrambled to avoid being trodden on by the buck's hooves, and swiped again, trying to keep its attention on her so that Will could attack.
A sudden blitz of white hot pain ripped through her, vision blacking out for a moment, until she saw the buck staggering backwards, bleeding profusely from its stomach, as well as... She could feel a strange pulsing, warm wetness beginning to exude from her chest, letting out a yelp as the pain broke through the shock, realizing that the buck had managed to slice her stomach with its horns while thrashing around. Thankfully it was hurt and distracted enough to prove her purpose, but the pain was growing, not bleeding heavily enough to risk bleeding out, but deep enough to hinder her considerably.

William watched, startled, as Peri threw herself at the Buck, he himself not yet near enough to the large creature to follow suit at the exact same moment.
The little howl of triumph that escaped his throat as he saw the she-wolf bite deep into the deer was immediately cut off and replaced by a sudden yap of fear and the deer suddenly lashed out at Peri with it's strong, sharp horns. Here was obviously a buck that had fought and won against many a prospective opponent in Spring.
The sight of Peri fall to the ground was enough to make William spring into action; scrambling into the clearing and making a wild, desperate lunge at the deer, teeth bared and snarling.
Not for him was usually the path of bravery, rather misplaced and unplanned as it was, but already the scent of wolf-blood was in his nostrils and he knew he would never forgive himself if he ran off to let her fend for herself.

The deer, stunned and dazed by the profuse wound in its stomach was easily caught off guard by Will's attack, his fangs hitting at the vital spot at the back of the buck's neck, sending it crashing to the floor easily, the vital spinal cord snapped by the brute, killing the deer instantly.
Staggering forward a few steps, a couple of droplets of blood splattering on the earth beneath her, Peri whined softly, laying down next to the fallen buck, feebly beginning to eat from it, the still warm flesh and blood spilling from the animal comforting despite the ever strong, throbbing pain within her stomach.
Peri took a few more struggling bites, before laying her head down on the ground, faintly whining once more, her appetite significantly reduced by the pain, vision blurring. This had definitely not been what she'd imagined when she'd suggested hunting for their lunch... Now she could hardly stand from the pain, her consciousness fading a little.
Struck by panic at the thought of passing out, her whine grew louder and sharper, claws digging into the ground as if trying to grip onto consciousness.
W-Will...

William crashed to the ground with a thud, rolling awkwardly off of the dead deer and landing in a little tangle of legs and tail a short distance away. Lifting his head muzzily, he saw Peri flop next to the dead creature and begin to slowly tear at it with her teeth, her movements looking weak and pained even from where William was sat.
A little whimper of concern escaped his throat as he rolled back onto his feet and began to pad slowly over, pawing at the blood around his muzzle as he did so.
P-Peri? a-are you-
But he was cut off as Peri began to whine, her sharp claws scrabbling into the soft earth. William gave a panicked yelp and bounded the rest of the way, his ears quivering in the air.

Keeping her eyes squeezed shut, she breathed in short, laboured gasps, hearing the rumble of paws one earth getting closer and closer until they stopped just short of her, relieved a little by his closeness. Her hearing was beginning to wane, a sure-fire sign that she was going to pass out soon, fighting it with everything she had.
D-don't... don't let me fall... asleep...
She pleaded weakly, terrified by the prospect of this. But as much as she begged to herself, her hearing plunged itself into what felt like an ocean of cold water, crashing against her ears until the outside world had faded away, losing consciousness for the combination of blood loss, pain and shock. A few moments after she'd blacked out, she began to uncontrollably Change, her wolf form turning back to that of a human; the form she had been born as.
Her human form lay, curled up in the fetal position on her side, stomach marred with two long gashes from just under her diaphragm down to nearing her hip, the bleeding having stopped just about, but leaving her wounds crusted with dried blood, eyes closed and face a blank mask, mostly obscured by her hair.

The relief that washed over William as he neared Peri was soon extinguished in a cold gush of fear as he watched his fellow wolf flop to the ground and speak to him in a chilling little whisper. Whimpering, he padded the rest of the way to her side and tried to nudge against her, careful not to touch the thick red wounds in her stomach.
Watching with horror as she began to slip away and change, William leaned down and nuzzled Peri's face desperately, wiping her hair away from her face with a slight flick of his muzzle before giving into a base wolf instinct and starting to lick her face with his warm red tongue, hoping for some response from the unconscious human.
p-please don't...P-please...I-I don't k-know w-what t-to...
Scrabbling at her arm with one muddy little paw, he let out a soft moan of sorrow; This wasn't how he wanted their little trip to end, this wasn't what he wanted to happen at all! And now he had no idea what to do or how to help.

Fading in and out of consciousness, Peri faintly felt Will's feeble attempts at rousing her, still too weak to quite wake from her strange, empty slumber. As a werewolf, her wounds healed abnormally fast, and the gashes had already began to scab over and heal, meaning that the internal trauma and blood loss was the only worry for the time being.
Moaning softly, her brown faintly furrowed, expression flickering in a weak sight of pain, Will's words seeming to burrow into her mind like a light against the darkness. Eyelids flickering, she opened them slightly, light flooding in painfully in colourful blurs.
"Don't leave me, Will..." She murmured faintly, fingers wrapping loosely around the brute's foreleg, gazing up into the merging blurs of dark brown and pale blue that was the wolf before her.

Feeling her weak fingers fasten themselves around his leg, her sharp nails biting into the skin, William ceased his licking and allowed himself to flop next to Peri, pressing his warm furry body against hers in some small hope of giving her warmth whilst she healed.
I...o-of course I w-won't...Peri
he lowered his head and whined softly at the cooling body of the deer, a small part of him wanting to sink his jaws into the beast and fling it away from them, away from Peri for hurting her as it had. Another part of him, that had been pushed aside when he leapt for the buck; his human side, muttered that he should change back himself, and run for his clothes and then an ambulance, make sure that Peri was checked out by a proper human doctor. But that would mean leaving her....

Peridot weakly buried her face into Will's fur, trying not to slip away from the comforting warmth, the pain seemingly worse as her skin began to knit itself back together over the wounds, her body attempting to heal but laboured by her weakness, causing her to convulse slightly, a little bit of strength returning into her grip as it tightened due to the pain.
In the nearby trees, Samuel had just finished a somewhat risky midday run, picking up his jacket from its carefully chosen place hidden in the hollow of a large tree, when he heard the low whine, sensitive ears picking up on the worry and sadness lacing the noise. Adjusting his glasses, he cautiously began to move towards the noise, before seeing an odd sight before him, stopping dead in his tracks.
A seemingly human female and a wolf, laying together in a patch of bloodstained earth, the blood seeming to be coming from the woman's stomach... But the wolf didn't seem as if he had attacked her, it almost seemed as if he was trying to... protect her? He approached slowly, knowing that it was his duty as a doctor to help this woman, especially as he suspected the two of them were mostly likely werewolves, like himself.
"I mean no harm... I-I'm a doctor, I can help you." He said calmly and clearly, mostly to make sure he didn't invoke an attack from the wolf. He had his satchel with him that he always kept a medical kit in, just in case a situation such as this arose. Crouching beside Peri, he took in her wounds, noting that her body - as a werewolf would - seemed to be trying to heal them prematurely, but the internal damage was still untouched.
"My name is Samuel, well, Dr. Bailey from the hospital in Eden Town. I need you to stay with me, talk to me... What's your name?" He asked Peri, taking hold of her wrist to check her pulse, before opening his satchel and pulling out the kit, figuring that he would need to disinfect her wounds, give her stitches and some antibiotics to make sure that no infection had spread into her body.
Peri stirred a little, keeping her eyes closed, still making sure she kept close to Will. "P....P-Peridot... I'm Peridot... Hastings..."

William felt a small growl ripple across his throat as the ragged man stepped into the clearing. His keen nose picked up the scent of werewolf, but William was too scared to take any chances.
d-don't
He whined as the man stooped to look door at Peri, pawing at the earth next to her curled hand. He didn't know what to do, heck, when did William ever know what to do? But the very least he could do
d-don't hurt her...

Samuel started a little as the wolf growled at him, swallowing nervously and pushing his glasses up a little, turning his gaze to the protective wolf next to her. "I...I promise I mean no harm... Are you her mate?" He asked, figuring that it was the most likely possibility. Putting on some disposable surgical gloves, he pulled out a small bottle of disinfectant fluid and some clean material, pouring a little onto it before very gently beginning to wipe the wounds, earning a weak cry from Peri, the liquid stinging as it flowed over her skin.
Once the blood and dirt was removed from her wounds, he very gently dabbed the wounds dry, pulling out a sheet of butterfly stitches from the kit, before beginning to apply them, pushing together the two sides of the wound and applying from the middle outwards, before placing two long strips along each side of the wound to anchor them. He did the same to the other gash, before digging in his satchel for some gauze and bandages.
"She'll be good as new in no time... Whereabouts do you guys live? I can give you both a ride home if need be. She needs to get plenty of rest, although being what she is, it will take little more than two days before she'll be fighting fit again." He chuckled, despite a little weakly, a tad nervous with the woman's apparent mate, or close friend or relatively at least watching over him, worried that one wrong move would get his head bitten off.

William blinked, the question startling the low growl away from his throat, shutting him up. He bowed his head slightly, feeling ashamed for acting as he had towards the man who obviously only wanted to help.
erm...No..n-no I'm...not...Justafriend
He managed, shuffling a little ways back from Peri so the Doctor would have easier access to her wounds, ears and tail down. Watching, fascinated, as the man slowly and methodically began to patch and prod at Peri's cuts, William contented himself with the knowledge that she was in the hands of someone who knew what they were doing, and not himself; who would undoubtedly do more half than good.
He glanced up at the next question, suddenly realising, with acute embarrassment, that both sets of their clothes were over the other side of the bridge, down in the woods near the complex. If he could, he would have blushed.
heh...T-that would be...O-our..clothes are...w-well...
he trailed off miserably.
