The cold night air felt good against William's skin as he jogged gently through the woods, branches arching above him and the ground cold and wet beneath his feet. Barefoot, jacketless and tieless, having left the unneeded top parts of his clothes behind at the apartments, William still couldn't quite force himself to simply stop, remove what he had, and change. Even though the forest and high moon called and enticed the wolf part of the little man's brain, growing more urgent with every step.
Lessons of the previous week had taught him to be rather more careful when hiding his things, unless he wanted to wander home wrapped only in a picnic blanket. again.
So just a few minutes more, he told himself; ten minutes tops, and then he would finally be deep enough into the forest. Deep enough to feel safe away from the town and finally be able answer the insistent whining and howling of the little inner wolf.
He pushed past a tree branch, paused, glanced left and right and carried on, picking up his pace.

The large golden fae blinked in the darkness, the gold suns surrounding her pupils glowing softly. She planned on going home a wolf, but she assumed this amn a little older than her was planning on going home as a human. She had installed a large dog door in her back door so that she could come and go as a wolf. She followed this rather small man through the woods soundlessly. If she didn't want to reveal herself she would probably never be found.
Autumn flared her wolf nostrils slightly, taking in the scents around her. They were alone in the woods and that was good since Aut was a Validus wolf and if an Infiniteria wolf saw her she would surely be executed. She shook her head slightly, dismissing the thought. Walking briskly she kept her gaze glued on this man. He looked to be a bit older than her but not by much. She cocked her head, thinking. Lost in thought, she stepped on a leaf that had fallen from a tree and it crunched. Following her wolf instincts she froze and didn't move. Shit!!!

William was just wondering whether or not Peri might be out and about at this time of night, although thinking it more likely she was either working or haunting the bars and clubs in town, when he heard the subtle but distinct sound of footsteps on leaves. He froze where he was, eyes wide, his breath catching in his throat. He wanted to tell himself that it was just a rabbit, or some other small night creature, but with his head already aching, and his heightened senses pounding every message through his brain, everything sounded and felt stronger and more threatening than it should.
William's panic rose higher as the hint of werewolf scent finally made it's way to his nose, carried across on the night air. Oh God... A little whimper escaped his throat as he remembered the different packs and alliances that stalked the woods. None of them would be best pleased to see a little loner wolf skulking about on their territory. Not moving an ich, he managed to stammer out:
"P-please...I-I'm not here to s-steal anything o-or invade a-anyone's territory...pleasedon'thurtme!"

Autumn slowly thawed out and whimpered. She didn't want to scare him! She poked her head out of the undergrowth and blinked a few times. She stepped fully out of the greenery and flattened her ears to her skull and slowly lowered herself to the ground in a sign of submisson. Sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. This is not my territory anyway. I'm a Validus wolf. She sent these thoughts to the male standing in front of her. She remained laying down and smiled a little bit at this male. He was handsome. Very handsome. And British. Maybe she could score a date or two with this male. She decided her best bet would be to introduce herself. I am Autumn DeRidder. I like your accent... She trailed off, a little embarressed. She wondered if his stuttering was because he was scared or if it was just something he did all the time. She stood up again and looked him over. He was actually taller than she would be in human form. She wagged her tail slightly and then started panting excitedly. A new friend. Or maybe something more?

William felt himself deflate with relief at the she-wolf's words, turning to look across at her as she slunk out of the undergrowth.
But still, a werewolf was still a werewolf, and six years of non-interaction had caused William to still feel a rather high sense of unease at meeting another one of his kind. Even after the past week or so, it was still something that made him want to fall over in submission and hurry off.
William tugged at the edge of a rumpled shirt sleeve and tried to smile nervously, the tips of his pointed teeth betraying his original intention for walking about so late at night.
"Er...t-thank you...I-I...some people find it h-hard to...understand..."
He trailed off too, a light blush already sweeping his face. A sudden thought struck him as he realized what she had said first.
"Validus p-pack? S-so you must k-know Lance?"
That made him feel safer; sharing common ground with the wolf.

Autumn smiled softly and nodded. Yes, I do know Lance. A fellow pack member of mine. We haven't conversed too much, but I've spoken to him a few times. She sat down in front of him and cocked her head to the side slightly. She made a soft huff like sound that was a chuckle. Something he does all the time then..., she thought to herself about his stuttering. Aut straightened her head and then stood up hesitantly. Do you want to run with me? She wagged her tail and smiled happily and excitedly, hoping he would say yes. Autumn walked over to him and nudged his palm. She sat in front of him and her tail slapped the ground feaverently. I promise you'll have fun! She chuckled again, got up and chased her tail to show him how much fun he'd have with her.

William blinked and stepped backwards slightly, not expecting her sudden offer. Was it usual for pack wolves to invite loners to run with them? What if she had other motives? What if the rest of her pack was lying in wait to ambush him?
He shuddered and tried to pull himself together; If she was Validus pack, then she knew Lance, and Lance would never allow any type of violence... hopefully especially not against his little gentleman project, William.
William suddenly realized how scared he must look and tried to straighten his features out into a more relaxed expression. A small part of his mind was acutely aware of the moon rising high above the trees, and the soft loamy smell of the woods wrapping itself around him.
"I-I...erm...W-well...Why?"

Autumn smiled and stood again. He was afraid and she didn't like that. I want to get to know you. You seem like someone I could become good friends with...or more. Her eyes widened at the last part. She couldn't believe she had just said that. She shook her head and hoped he didn't hear that last part. Man, would that be embarressing. She smiled slightly, now embarressed. She chuckled half-heartedly and waited for him to run for the hills. Of course that would be his reaction. It always was. With every guy she went for.

William found himself letting out an actual little squeak of surprise at the wolf's final words; something more? William wasn't sure if he could handle that...
It wasn't even as if he was particularly good looking, or brave or...Surely the she-wolf had much better choices in Validus?
Panicked images of Peri rushed to the front of his brain; he remembered what she had done when she'd thought a little human girl had threatened him, what would she do if she thought another wolf... And a pack wolf at that...
"I-I don't...I-I mean I a-already have a...erm"
A mate?....A girlfriend?... Was she even that? Whatever their status was, he didn't think he wanted any more...twists in his dull little life just yet. His blush reddened as he glanced down, kicking at the grass with a bare foot.
"S-sorry"
He gulped, realizing he might have offended the young wolf. That was certainly the last thing he wanted, if even for the fact that she had an entire pack on her side and he had...well...himself.
"B-But I-I wouldn't m-mind a new friend...heh...i-if you like..."
He added quickly

Autumn's smile faded slowly and she nodded once. Of course... Her golden pelt around her cheeks accquired a pink tint. She stood and lifted a corner of her velvety soft lips in a half-hearted smile. It looked lame. Friends....sure.... She tried to sound enthusiastic but it didn't work out too well. Aut shook out her pelt and looked at herself. What was it guys didn't like about her? Why didn't guys like her? She whimpered slightly and then huffed, a sigh in her human form. So how about that run? She tried smiling again and she found she was a little more successful. Not by a lot, but by a little.

Smiling nervously again, William nodded, still slightly perplexed by the she-wolf and her actions. But it couldn't hurt, to make a new friend, that is, and what would he have done on his own anyway? Chased rabbits again, probably. Besides, he would be safer with another wolf; at least one pack would leave him alone now, hopefully.
His smile grew for a second, before fading quickly into a wince of pain as the thoughts of running as a wolf began to claw at his mind. Heart beating faster and faster, he fumbled to undo his cuff and top buttons, not wanting to lose yet another shirt to a change.
"S-sorry...W-would you mind j-just...I-I'll be...Excusemeamoment"
So saying, he turned and half ran, half stumbled into the safety of the undergrowth, still tugging at his shirt with hands that were rapidly becoming paws.

Autumn smiled at him when he agreed and her tail started wagging so fast that it could be invisable. When he started taking off his shirt she thought for a second that he was going to undress himself in front of her. She smiled in a sly way but then he excused himself and he left to the undergrowth. Crap. She sighed and shrugged her delicate yet broad and muscular shoulders to herself. She turned and sat facing the opposite direction he was transforming in. She wanted to give him privacy.
She looked at the moon and let her thoughts drift. She thought about her brother and she began to worry so she quickly changed her thought process. She now thought about her sister. She sighed and smiled a little. Her sister was her role model and her best friend--even though in the pack Autumn was Haley's superior being as Autumn is head warrior and Haley is just a warrior. Aut chuckled and smiled to herself. She then heard William behind her but she waited for him to get her attention.

When it was over, William gently pressed his muzzle into the cold wet grass for a moment; enjoying the euphoria of the change, whilst also allowing the sweet scent of the earth to calm the nausea and pain that came along with it.
His clothes lay in a little heap under a tree a short distance away. The trousers slightly ripped from a last desperate kick with a foot that had been more claws than toes.
Panting slightly, he finally stood, feeling more balanced on four paws than he had been on two feet. Carefully he padded over to his clothes and quickly covered them with a light coating of leaves and earth.
Sniffing the air, task done, he turned and trotted back to the wolf. Faintly surprised to find her waiting patiently, sat with her back to him in the clearing, he paused for a moment before whining gently to show he was done.

Autumn turned and smiled, happy to see that he had changed. He was a rather small wolf, true yes, and she was so much bigger, but she didn't care. She giggled a little and walked briskly over to him. Ready? Wagging her tail and panting excitedly, she yipped and turned in circles. Sure, she was childish, but once you got to spend some time with her you get used to it and she becomes one of your best friends. She didn't wait for him to reply, instead she just took off at full speed and figured he'd follow. Come on, slow poke!!!! she teased playfully.

Giving a little yelp of surprise, William dashed after her, hoping he wouldn't lose the larger wolf in the dash or worse; that she didn't trample his clothes as she ran through the undergrowth.
w-wait for me!
He whined, his paws pounding hard against the slick grass and earth. Already the sights and sounds of the night forest were starting to seep through his mind; sending him messages of what and where and how fast prey and wolves and humans alike had traveled through the woods today. As a human these senses managed to give him one heck of a migraine, but as a wolf they exhilarated him.
