It had been early in the morning, and Scarlet had been itching to go riding. She got up before the sun had even risen and was pulling her tan riding pants on and her black riding shirt. Scarlet never kept her boots within her room or house. To muddy. Climbing down her stairs, she reached for her boots and slipped them on before she ran out the door and to her own stables. She whistled when she got to the barn, and instantly her mare ran out of the pasture to meet her. A smile formed on her lips as she brushed the mares neck, "Hey there Sweet Heart. How about a ride over to the Greystone Stables? I want to check for some werewolves." She saw the mare shake her head.
Scarlet took the lead rope and hooked it to the mare's halter and tied her up to the post just when he palomino stallion came up to her and nudged her. "Alright, I'll take you too." she said, grabbing to blankets and putting them each on one horse, before she went and grabbed a saddle, then another saddle. She saddled each horse and put the bridles on before she climbed onto her mare. "Alright, let's get going you two." she said, turning both horses towards the gates.
When they got to the gates, Scarlet paused after she closed the gates, climbed back onto her mare, when she saw her stallion's ears flicked. Her blue/purple eyes looked around and then she felt her mare tense up a bit. "It's fine girl. No werewolves here." she whispered, still looking around while patting the mares neck.

The young girl moved silently through the bushes her bow in one hand with an arrow ready. She paused a bit of a distance away seeing a rabbit. The perfect meal for her bird companion. She brung her arm back and released her fingers and watched the arrow hit its mark. She smiled and rushed up picking the rabbit up and then brung her pack around wrapping the rabbit in a towel and put it inside. Standing up again she looked around then up a the sky through the trees for her friend before continuing to walk through the trees. As she neared the edge of a small tree line she could hear hooves from horses so she figured she was getting close to Greystone Stables. It was another place she found fun for her age. But at the moment she walked along the small trail going toward her favorite place to get an apple.
It didn't take her long to spot an apple further up than she could reach as she neared the tree. Stringing her bow she aimed at the apple then a few inches at the stem and released and the arrow grazed the small branch and she watched the apple start to drop to the ground and she ran up to catch it but she heard a short 'klee' and watched Marahute, her eagle friend swoop down and clutch the apple and fly back into the air. "Bring that back Marahute!...or you won't get your treat" she called and the bird circled back around and dropped the apple. She chuckled and grabbed the rabbit out her pack and tossed it up and Marahute caught it in her talons and flew to a branch. Picking her apple up she grabbed her arrow from the ground and bit into it.
Then she turned back going toward the stables then heard a small branch snap. She froze her eyes searching the bushes on either side of her before she heard the growl which sounded more like a mountain lion. Kayla strung her arrow slowly but didnt have time to turn back behind her to see the lion rushing up quickly.

The mares ears twitched again and Scarlet looked around. She took the horses over to her house, and ran inside. Good thing she kept her arrows and bow in an available place for anything. Especially, mountain lions, even though her horses could take care of themselves with ease, Scarlet was always ready. When she came back outside her eyes caught the sight of a bird in the sky. She climbed up on her mare and looked at the stallion. She grabbed his reins and took off towards the forest. Something was up and she wasn't going to allow it.
Before her horse stopped, Scarlet was already off and within the trees. Searching for the lion and its poor victim. She notched her arrow on her bowstring and got ready for an attack. Scarlet heard a growl and followed it, spotting the lion instantly. Gotcha. Time for your end. she thought, stopping and aiming her arrow at the big cat. Before she let her arrow go, Scarlet stole a glance at its victim. A girl not even at the age of 15, was the victim and getting ready to shoot the cat. To late, Scarlet let the arrow go and the cat feel to its side as she let her gaze go back to it and whistle for her horses.

She turned on her heels seeing the lion and her heart skipped a beat as she stepped back and tripped falling backwards her arrow releasing but sinking into the ground a little bit from the lion. She looked back up seeing an arrow protruding from the lion as it fell to the side. Looking off into the trees she saw a young woman and then heard her whislte and two horses galloped up. Kayla swallowed and sighed saying in a shy voice "T-thanks" Her eyes went to Marahute as she landed on the ground beside her and she smiled rubbing down the bird's back. "I'm alright Mara" She got up from the ground and dusted herself off and looked back toward the two horses and woman after grabbing her arrow from out the ground. Marahute flapped up on her shoulder.

Scarleg looked over at the girl, since she had fallen to the ground from seeing the lion. She heard a thanks come out but shyly, "No need to thank me. I was only protecting my horses and ranch. Shouldn't be wondering about without knowing the danger in these forest." she said, grabbing the stallions reins and taking him over to the girl. The stallion nudged the girl and ignored the bird, while her mare stayed close behind her.
"I believe that we should leave before wolves or anything else decides to come by for a snack." she said, her eyes sparking. Not that she would mind of a wolf or anything else came by, but right now she needed to get her horses and the girl away from the forest and back to the ranch. Scarlet climbed onto her mare and turned her back towards the ranch, only stopping to look back at the girl, the bird and her stallion.

"No need to thank me. I was only protecting my horses and ranch. Shouldn't be wondering about without knowing the danger in these forest." she heard the woman say bringing the horses over. She felt the stallion nudge her and she smirked saying "Hey there boy" and gently brushed his cheek. Her eyes went back to the woman as she said they should leave before a wolf showed up. The girl nodded in agreement seeing her climb back on the mare.
Kayla brushed Marahute and clicked her tongue and the bird flew off into the air. Looking at the stallion she stomped his hoof and she smirked and brung her arrow over her body before climbing up on him. She took hold of the reins and turned the stallion back around toward the woman replying to her statement before "But I'm not afraid of no big bad wolf"

Scarlet watched her stud stop his hoof and stand there while the girl climbed onto him. The horse owner was proud of each of her horses, she had raised them, trained them and anything else you could think of. When the girl turned Native back towards her and replied to her statement, Scarlet smirked. "Depends on what kind of wolf you're talking about. Any regular wolf would just run away at the sight of my stud, but a werewolf.." she said, pausing slightly. "No, a werewolf would attack if it thought my stallion was doing it some danger." she finally added.
Scarlet whistled softly, turned the mare and headed back to her ranch. She heard the hooves of Native hitting the ground, following her with a steady pace, but catching up to her and staying by her side. "What's your name anyways?" she asked, before she leaned down and whispered 'home' to Ameretta and let the reins fall from her hands. Why hold the reins with the horse knew where she needed to go?
