And the rest...was blackness... Well, it was for William as he struggled awake the next morning, the sunlight slanting through the curtains and hitting him in the face with the awakening power of a cold slap with a wet flannel.
A good deal of other things were blurred and forgotten about last night too, William realized as he tried to blink himself awake. For one; this didn't feel like his bed...Or even a sofa, as he had thought as he'd followed Peri into her apartment.
Then the headache hit him, right between the eyes.
"...uuughh..."

Beginning to feel bright, insistent light shine on her face, Peri screwed up her features, mumbling a quiet, and most likely very rude protest, rolling over and snuggling into whatever was next to her, initially mistaking its softness for her duvet, or a pillow. Slowly, it began to dawn on her that it wasn't, and she dared open her eyes a crack, immediately regretting it as the light burned into her retinas.
Hearing a groan from beside her, she unsteadily propped her top half up on her elbows, peering blearily at the figure lying next to her, blinking in confusion for a few long moments, before it finally sank in.
She'd had sex with her neighbour.
Eyes widening, she almost gawped at Will, watching him rouse himself, seemingly suffering from a terrible hangover. Despite feeling his pain, she felt stripped of the confidence she'd displayed the night before, genuinely lost for words. For once.
"Uh. Good... morning?"
That was a lie. It wasn't quite a good one, and a quick look at the digital clock on her bedside table confirmed that it was definitely not morning. Another nagging voice in her head reminded her that she'd have to work tonight as well, hangover or no. This... was going to be somewhat of a bad day, she could feel it.

William's eyes flickered open at the sound of Peri's hesitant morning greeting, immediately regretting it as the light slammed into his eyes at full force, letting another indistinct groan escape his lips as he turned his suddenly heavy head in the direction of Peri. "M-Morning?"
Was the best he seemed up to, in a stammery little croak of a voice. He licked his dry lips as Peri's image swam before his eyes and he struggled to work out... ...anything...
What...Was he doing? Where exactly had he woken up? ...Why did his head feel as if a large number of chainsaws had been wound up and set loose to rattle around inside of it?

Observing his hung-over state for a few moments more, it suddenly became apparent to Peri that she was still nude, and was currently flashing him, whether he was bleary eyed and pretty much dead to the world or not. Letting out a small, almost out of character squeak, she grabbed at the duvet to cover herself, before pulling a dressing gown from over the back of the headboard, and slipping it on quickly.
That issue attended to, she sat up properly in bed, eyeing the clothes that littered the floor. Her shorts, practically destroyed tights and... boxers. He was naked. In her bed. Oh God, what had she done. Wincing a little as thoughts began to flood into her head, she cleared her throat, attempting to step out of bed, a crash of pain washing over her from the head down immediately, causing her to almost fall straight back into bed. Damn. Cheap vodka was almost lethal...
"Heh... you seem like you could do with a strong coffee... or tea, if that's more your style."
Tea. Why did that seem like it had a lot of significance?
Tea... tea... Baileys. Oh yeah. Putting her head in her head, she grimaced, a small portion of the night beginning to come back to her now. Right. She needed to perk up by five, giving her around four hours to do so. She began to dig in her bedside cabinet, finding a small pot of painkillers, before shuffling out into the kitchenette to get some water, and to put the kettle on. Downing the tablets, she refilled the glass, figuring Will would need them just as much as her...

A tea? Usually tea was indeed his favorite beverage, but right now a small part of his brain was quietly telling him that he'd much rather have;
"M-maybe...a-a...coffee?"
As soon as Peri had staggered her way out of the room, William allowed himself to flop back onto the bed, snuggling into the pillows to try and achieve some form of comfort to combat his raging headache.
It was from this vantage point that he spotted a small number of things, all of which offering a fresh little twinge of fear. The first were his boxers, lying in a crumpled little heap on the carpet below. Which mean that he, William, must be-
The second, which caught and held his attention just as that train of thought was juddering to a halt was the little digital clock of Peri's. The clock that proudly displayed the time of 1:15 ...which made him nearly five hours later for work.
This realization forced a terrified little whimper from his lips. What had he been doing?

Somehow a coffee did overall seem the safer choice. Returning to the room with two steaming mugs of strong coffee and some painkillers for Will, she found him staring in complete, stone cold horror at her alarm clock, wincing a little as she realized she had probably made him very, very late for something.
Ah well. It couldn't be helped, and worrying was just going to make his headache worse. Perching nervously on the edge of her bed, she passed him his drink and the painkillers, taking a long sip from hers, trying to ignore the stinging burn of the liquid against her tongue, and painfully dry throat.
She wondered what she could say at this point, but then again, was there anything else to be said? They'd had a drunken fling, which she was beginning to remember was actually her fault, which then lead to a night of...
Rubbing the space between her forehead to banish the thought before she confused herself all over again, she tried to focus on kicking the hangover, and on the day ahead. But she couldn't exactly just turn round and tell Will to get out and let her get on with her day, could she?
Eyes widening, it suddenly came to her that he'd been locked out, meaning they'd need to try and sort out a spare key, or some way of getting him back into his apartment...
"A-ah, front desk will be open by now, you can sort out getting your apartment unlocked,"
Well, at least he'd had a proper bed to sleep in that night, instead of out in the corridor...

William sat up in the bed, accepted the coffee gratefully, almost burning his hands as he grasped at the steaming mug; anything to dispel his headache and the cold feeling of dread that was quietly working it's way down his spine. He was going to be in so much trouble, and what excuse did he have to give at the Steel mill? William didn't even want to think of that.
Making sure the duvet still covered...everything it needed to, and feeling his face start to flush hotly as he tried to avoid Peri's gaze, he took a good long sip of the hot liquid, trying not to take too much notice of the small slithers of memory that were starting to come back to him. There were, he decided, a large number of places he would rather be at this point. Maybe the corridor outside his room hadn't been such a dreadful option.
He realized blearily that she had asked him a question.
"o-oh yes...I-I imagine t-they can...g-give me a s-spare...

Feeling a little awkward as she took in the look of dread and desperation on his face, Peri closed her eyes, trying to numb the pain in her head, as well as the worries piling up with another long glug of scalding hot coffee, trying to string a small speech together that could possibly make things a little less awkward. You know, tie up all the loose ends and whatnot.
Returning her attention to him, she stood up, clearing her throat purposefully, and carefully arranging her features in a poker face, not allowing herself to see at all nervous, awkward or embarrassed.
"Listen, about last night-"
Stopping short, her mouth fell open as she gaped at the wall behind her bed, now noticing four, brand new gouges just above the head rest, looking as if they'd been made with... man sized claws.
"What... the... fuck...?!
Now she certainly didn't remember doing that. Come to think of it, that didn't really seem like something she would do mid coitus anyway, drunk or not. Which meant... how the hell could Will have done that? A small voice nagged at the back of her mind that she should start remembering and fast, but she pushed it back, examining the indents in a panic. Her landlord was going to destroy her for this.

William was about to protest, or apologize, or...something to Peri's opening statement, anything to put pay to just a small amount of the dread and awkward atmosphere that was hanging about the room.
"I-I really don't t-thi-"
But the look on Peri's face, and her sharp exclamation made him look up and stop his terrified murmurs. What was it now? His fingers hugged the sides of the mug as he forced his head to turn, peering up at the large gouge marks that ran along the wall. His mouth dropped open. Feeling his gut clench in fear, William's eyes darted to the exit. If he'd done that...And Peri was...as he could only assume, a human...He wanted to scream. Or cry...possibly both....

Peri finally found the strength to shut her mouth, mind now racing a mile a minute. She hadn't done that, and no human could have possibly made such a mark, which meant, that unless a werewolf, or a rabid badger of something, had crawled in through the window in the early hours of the morning and done that, it had to be...
He... he had to be a werewolf...
Swallowing to try and clear the lump in her throat, she glanced at him with a mix of confusion, horror and awkwardness in her eyes, really not too sure how to broach the subject. He now seemed to eager to leave, obviously panicking that she was a human, and was going to report him to the... paranormal police or something. Rubbing her temples for a moment to ease her impending migraine, she sought the right words.
"I'm not human."
Bravo, Peri. What a wonderful, gripping speech. You deserve an Oscar. Lips pressed in a tight line of irritation, she shook her head at her own stupidity, raising her hands in order to try and emphasize her words.
"No, no wait, that came out wrong, I meant- well, I mean... um..."
Sadly, it seemed she had already completely and utterly tanked this odd confession, feeling as if she had nothing else to lose. He already probably thought she was a nutjob, and that was just from waking up in her apartment. In the middle of the afternoon.
"You know what, don't worry about the wall, I'll get it fixed, you should probably go get your apartment sorted. You can use my shower if you need to, I need to go do some... stuff." By the time she'd finished that sentence, she was already halfway into her living room, stopping dead once more as she took in the state of that. They really did have a wild night, apparently...

Not...Human? The strange, rushed, rather cryptic statement, along with the curious look of sudden realization that seemed to have dawned upon Peri's face, stirred a small fragment of memory from the depths of William's pounding, aching head.
Something that had been hammering for his attention for a very long time, but had been pushed further and further back as...Whatever had progressed last night...Progressed... William's dread only deepened. This wasn't helping him here; he had to get out!
Quickly, but carefully so as not to spill, William plonked the mug down on the bedside table and fumbled for his boxers whilst Peri's back was turned. Manhood thus concealed, he prepared to step from the bed, fearing whatever fresh pain this might cause, before noticing Peri pause in the doorway. blocking his escape.
Panicing once more, he stood up quickly, whimpering as the pain flashed straight to his head, knocking out his vision for a few moments.
"P-Peri.."
He managed to whine

Initially, Peri was rather relieved to see him move so fast to exit her apartment, knowing that it would probably be better now for them to part ways and pretend they'd never met if passing in the corridor, but to her horror, he suddenly seemed staggered by pain and a head rush, more than likely from his hangover. She wasn't going to have him passing out in her apartment, oh no. She needed him conscious and out of here, asap. Even if just to give her room to think.
Darting forward with almost unnatural speed, she put one arm out to steady him, frowning deeply. This was causing a lot of problems. She'd like to think that she'd let this be a lesson to her, not to live her life based on lust, but... she doubted she'd change, even after this debacle.
"Are you okay?"
She seemed concerned, yes, but overall absolutely filled with dread, brain screaming that she should really be hurrying him out the door, flinging his clothes on him as he went. But she couldn't really march him out like this... even though she'd just pretty much implied she was an alien.

William felt a comforting hand on his shoulder and opening his watering eyes a crack to see Peri, leaning in and staring at him with concern. He flinched, just slightly, still clutching one hand to his head, managing to stammer out through gritted teeth.
"c-can...e-e-explain..."
Yes, well done William. Explain what exactly? How the scar across his shoulder, no doubt given an eyeful by Peri during...Whatever had happened (William still didn't want to think) was a gift from the jaws of a wretched werewolf? How, because of that, at least twice a month, sometimes more, he scurried along on four paws and ate fluffy bunnies, because it seemed a good idea?
Yes, wonderful, well done William... You're an idiot...
"heh...S-sorry...m-maybe if...s-shirt a-and...trousers?"
Looking up at Peri, that's when he caught it again...That scent. And froze, his eyes widening... Surely not?...

Slumping against the doorway, she rubbed at her forehead irritably, face screwing up as she tried to think. What was he going to explain? His dizzy spell? The claw marks on the wall? And... shouldn't it have been her doing the explaining? Seeming to come to a decision mentally, she met his gaze levelly, jaw set firmly, expression screaming that she wouldn't take no for an answer.
"Right... your clothes are in the living room, if you can just give me five minutes to clear my head... I think we have some issues we need to clear up here."
Five minutes. That would at least give her a chance to splash her face with water and wonder what the hell had possessed her to get into this situation in the first place. Oh yeah. He was a cute, awkward guy, and for some reason, she would jump on that type like a wolf on a hunk of meat.
Ugh. Peri winced. That wasn't the best analogy for what had taken place last night... She didn't quite have all the puzzle pieces yet, but from what she could remember... it wasn't half bad.
No. No, that was not the thing to be thinking about now. There were more important matters at hand... Striding into the bathroom, she began to run the cold tap, running one hand through her hair, frowning at her messy sex/bed hair, before splashing her face with water, relieved that it seemed to wake her up a little, almost knocking a little sense into the stupid, emotion-driven werewolf.
Right. Time for business. Striding back out to the living room, confidence deteriorating with every step, she just hoped to God he hadn't made a break for it already.

Five minutes...right...okay... That was...fine... William nodded his bleary understanding and managed to hobble his way into the sitting room. Taking in, with a fresh sense of dread, the sight of a tipped coffee table, empty shot glasses, and a carpet strewn with playing cards. A small amount of last night managed to filter through to his brain, making him wince.
stepping gingerly over glasses and stains, William finally managed to locate his missing jacket, shirt and trousers; laid out neatly on the arm of a sofa and crumpled on the floor, respectively. Desperately he began to struggle into them, knowing that both they and he looked an utter mess.
Maybe, if he still had enough time, he could be out of the door and hurrying down to the reception desk before...
Peri stood in the doorway, looking rather more shaken than he remembered.
