Blayde tossed and rolled on Azuki's couch. It was late into the night, and sweat was already beginning to shine on his brow. His contrasting hair stuck to his forehead, and he let out a mangled, almost animalistic yowl.
It had been a few days since he had moved in with Azuki, and he had managed to avoid his nightmares until now. He mostly just slept in short bursts, before his sleeping mind could wander. He thought maybe the happy feelings he had when with Azuki was curing him of his nightmares and insomnia. He'd been wrong.
He could hear his mother's screams, and snapping jaws. He was shouting, and could hear his voice becoming hoarse. He wanted his mother to stop screaming, but she wasn't listening to him. She kept calling him a monster, while cowering into the shadows were a mangled body lay. The body was motionless, but he could hear it laughing at him.

Azuki had gotten to the point, that she was used to having Blayde living in her apartment with her. She had asked if he wanted to sleep in her bed, but he had refrained to the couch. She had refrained from asking him constantly, it was the one thing she didn't do to people she loved. But she hadn't been able to sleep tonight, and so she got out of bed and pulled on her robe and headed towards the kitchen. She poured herself some water and looked over to Blayde.
She finished her water and was about to go back to bed when Blayde moved. With her wolf eyes, Azuki was able to see the sweet building up on his brow and she became worried. Instantly, she went over to him and touched his shoulder softly, and shook it. "Blayde.... Blayde wake up.'

Blayde heard a new voice, distant and soft. His mother's screams grew quiet, and his eyes snapped open. He gasped as his hand shot to the one that was gently shaking him. He squinted in the dim light as he breathed heavily, trying to remember where he was.
He could make out Azuki's features in the darkness and let out a long sigh before falling back onto the couch. "I wasn't screaming, was I? That would be really uncool." he mumbled. His voice was strained, but there was a sign of relief.

She felt his hand grab her hand and she gently put her other hand on his as he gave a sigh. She smiled at him and shook her head, "No love, you didn't." she said, running her hand against his cheek. She was worried about, there was no doubt about it. And knowing that Blayde had nightmares, made her concern worse. Azuki moved and sat down on the floor next to the couch, "You want to talk about it? You know I'm here for you whenever you need me."

He watched as she sat down on the floor in front of him. He reached forward and turned on one of the lights, squinting for a moment as his eyes adjusted. "It's not something I really like to talk about..." he mumbled as he ran a hand through his hair. It spiked up again, and he seemed to be slightly amused at how easily it went back to its usual style.
"I honestly don't really remember everything that caused them to start. I blacked out for a bit during the fight." He was now sitting up, and patted at the spot next to him for her to sit.

When he turned on the lights, she had to blink multiple times to get used to the light. Azuki smile and nodded at him, she understood if he didn't want to talk about it, she wouldn't force him into something he didn't want to talk about. "I understand hun. Just remember I'll be here for you whenever you want to talk about them." she said. Even thought she really wanted to know what was wrong with him and why the nightmares wouldn't leave him, Azuki wasn't the type of person to keep asking about it.
When he patted the spot next to him, Azuki moved and sat down on the couch next to him. She leaned against him and kissed his cheek softly. "Some nightmares, or dreams, no one knows where they come from. But it's not good to hold them in love." she said, smiling over at him. "Come on. Tell me about this fight and what happened. Please?"

He glared at the wall, his lower lip seeming to almost pout as he mulled it over. Finally he turned, burying his head into her lap like a kid would. He wrapped his arms around her, giving her a hug before turning so that he was facing upwards. His legs were hanging off the end of the couch, and her lap was his new pillow. He reached up, tracing at her neck line.
"When I was a kid, my mother left my father for another man." he started, "I was a smart kid though, I knew it wasn't my fault. But I couldn't understand it. My new...step-father..." he seemed to spit out those last words. "was a nasty person. He often beat my mother, and sometimes tried to hit me. My mom didn't see me anymore. I could be calling for her from across the room and she'd never answer. I often tried to stay at my dad's house, but my father is just a husk now. He couldn't look at me because I resemble my mother, and I sometimes found myself locked out of both homes."
He stopped tracing her neckline and reached for a hand. "One night, I found out that the new man was actually a werewolf. I found him clawing at my mother's bedroom door one night. She was so afraid of him she had locked their door, but she somehow had a twisted way of still loving him. He was whispering how he was going to bite her, tear her apart...it made my blood run cold."

When he hugged her, Azuki hugged him back and gave him a smile. She had her legs up and crossed, or Indian style as you would say, so she didn't mind him laying on her lap. She ran her fingers through his hair as she felt his fingers against her neck line. And when he started to speak, she listened to him. It was one of the things she was able to do without annoying him. Azuki was an easy going girl, and would listen to any story that you would let her listen to. And right now, she would listen to his story. As he spoke, her fingers trailed along his cheek and jawline, her mind registering each and every word. And her heart gave to his life.
It must've been hard on him while she lived a life of secret. Sighing, Azuki held his hand and brough it up to her lips softly. "I never knew my father and my mom never re-married for me to have a step-father. But I wouldn't like it or understand it either. Plus, no one should be treated like not." she stated. She knew how male werewolves had tempers, tempers that could easily be let out than controlled. She learned that the hard way with Eclipse. "Some male werewolves don't know how to control their tempers. And it makes even my blood turn cold. Maybe he is the reason your have those nightmares, Blayde." she said, looking out to her window. "Maybe he still haunts your dreams. Not wanting you to sleep or have a life worth living for." she added, this time looking down at him with her bright eyes

His story wasn't over. It was what happened after he found out his step father was a werewolf that things became foggy. "I don't think this was just about him being a werewolf. He was just...cruel and mean. He was a bad person, and he used his werewolf powers as fuel for his power against my mother." His silver eyes looked at hers, becoming distant for a moment as he thought back.
"When I found out he was a werewolf, I didn't know what to do. For over a year I just stayed away from my mothers house and stayed at my dads. She didn't bother trying to get me, and I often had to steal from my dad for food and stuff. He left for long periods of time without telling me too. It was on my sixteenth birthday that I thought I would go see my mom."
His jaw tightened, "When I got there, my mother was covered in bruises, and she had long claw marks on her arms. She nearly slammed the door on my face, but I was bigger then and she was so weak. I yelled for him, I don't even remember his name, and when he came around the corner I slammed a tool across his face."
He grew silent for a moment, his brow furrowing. "I don't remember much after that. I was in a lot pain, but when I came back I had somehow killed him. He was laying on the floor, and my mom was crying over him. She was crying for a man that nearly killed her. When I tried to go to her, she called me a monster. Me. Somehow, I was the monster in all of that." his voice was bitter, showing hatred for his mother. "She spat at me. As far as she's concerned, her son no longer exists. When I got back to my father's house, he was afraid of me. It was bad enough when he ignored me, but to have him flee the room...so I saved up money and left."

Azuki kept listening to him, hearing each word go into her mind from his lips. She had caught his attention, but then her own mind wondered at the last words he saved. He had ran away, saved up money just enough to leave. And here she was, thinking that he entire life had been horrible and worse, because her mother was afraid to even let her only daughter step foot in the outside world. For the first part of her life, Azuki had dreaded living with her mother. She had always stayed in her room, looking out the window at the strange people that she couldn't be around. Azuki's mother hadn't explained to her werewolf daughter why she couldn't leave. And Azuki hated her mother for it.
It wasn't until she found out the real reason, and why Azuki was able to hear and see things many people could not. Of course, Azuki knew she was born different, that she was born a werewolf, but she didn't think that it had been so different that her mother was afraid to let her out. Then Azuki regretted hating her mother, because she was only trying to protect her. And Azuki, ruined the lives because she let a hunter into the family without even realizing it.
Azuki closed her eyes and sighed, "I'm sorry it had to end like that with your family. At first, I hated my mother because she wouldn't let me out of the house. Never. I would always sit on my bed in my room and watch the people go by our house, without a second glance at me or my mother. It was like we didn't exist to them." she said, looking back down at him. Slowly, she ran her hand across his skin softly, barely touching him with her fingertips. She hadn't known it had gotten to the point his own mother and father ignored him and he had to leave. Azuki leaned down and kissed his forehead softly, wanting to hold him close to her. "Well, you parents are missing out on something amazing. To bad they won't ever see it again." she whispered softly.

He sighed, his eyes closing as he relaxed into her. "No, they won't ever see me again. I've told you already, I never want to go back to Germany. I don't have any good memories of my old home." If you could call that place a home.
His eyes opened again, and he peered up at her. "I think your mother was just trying to protect you the only way she knew how. Growing up as a werewolf in these days is dangerous."

Azuki smiled at him, "At that time, I didn't know. After my father died, my mother was strict and feared that if I left the house, she would lose me to. And being a little girl, I hardly understood what her reason was for." she stated. It was true. Azuki hardly understand her mothers reasons or rules until after it was to late and she made a mistake. Sighing again, Azuki ran her fingers through her messy, curly hair and leaned into the couch.
"I won't force you to go back there Blayde. By your story, I don't want you to go back unless I go with you. But even then, I don't want you to go back." she said, bringing his hand up to her lips again. She didn't want him to get hurt, being a werewolf hunter was a bit worrying to her as well, but Azuki knew he did it for the money. Slowly, she moved a bit and leaned down to kiss him before smiling at him, "I'm glad you're here with me, than in Germany anyways."

He chuckled, turning to wrap his arms around her waist again. "Oh yeah, this is much better than before. Although your life was tragic, you had parents that loved you and wanted to protect you. I don't think they are upset that you made a mistake, either."
He sat up, and placed his head on her shoulder. "We're just two tragic little stories, aren't we?" he remarked lightly, "Opposite pasts, but I think we both win in sucky childhoods."

Azuki smirked at him. Yes, this was much better than before and even though she had a tragic life with loving parents, deep down. Azuki wished her mother was here. She smiled at him and hugged him, kissing his cheek softly, "Thank you Blayde. I wish my mother was here to meet you. I bet she'd be happy you are here with me." she said, smiling at him again. Azuki knew her mother would just love Blayde. Even if his appearance wasn't quite what she would want for her only little girl, Azuki's mom would be happy for her daughter nonetheless.
A small chuckle escaped her lips and smiled over at him. "I agree with you." she said, before getting up and going to her kitchen. She pulled out a bottle of water, and got another for Blayde before she came back and handed him one. Azuki sat back down next to Blayde and smiled over at him. "I'm glad you told me about your past. I think you deserve to at least know mine now."

He took the offered water bottle, and patted his lap jokingly as an offering for her turn to sit in the doctors lap. "Your mom might have been a little resistant to my occupation though." he joked, but became humble when she wanted to talk about her own dark history as well.
Blayde wasn't normally the type to listen to people, but he felt deeply for Azuki. He was amazed at what he was suddenly willing to do for her, and how he didn't even hesitate or dwell on it. He was always just trying to survive on his own, that he didn't do much to help others besides the whole killing werewolves to save innocents thing.
"I'm all ears."
